“A Toast to Summer”, hosted by Simone I. Smith and Claire Sulmers of Fashion Bomb Daily was a delightful shopping and book signing event held at the Aloft hotel in Long Island City, New York. Simone has made a name for herself as a jewelry designer when she launched the SIS (Simone I. Smith)jewelry collection line 6 years ago, which is a montage of rings, bracelets, cuffs, earrings and necklaces with the SIS hoop earrings being one of the most sought after items. Some of the necklaces are designed with affirmative words, such as Blessed, Strength and Wisdom which are very empowering to women. Her signature Sweet Touch of Hope Lollipop Pendant is a design that is close to her heart. It represents her being a survivor of cancer. She also works closely with the American Cancer Society and portions of the proceeds from this event went to the organization. Simone’s collection embraces who she is, a strong, mother, wife, friend, survivor and entrepreneur empowering, helping and giving back to other women through her designs.
Claire Sulmers is the Editor in Chief and Founder of the Fashion Bomb Daily, one of the top multicultural fashion blogs which covers the latest fashion trends, celebrity style, street style and has the pulse on the next breakout designers. She has a passion for writing and fashion and turned that into a career by writing and blogging for Essence Magazine, Vogue Italy, Conde Nast and Newsweek just to name a few. She has also launched Fashion Bomb TV where Claire interviews celebrities in her Closet Confessions, has fashion tip videos and much more fun fashion information. Claire has written a book on her road to success where she talks about her struggles and sacrifices to get to “The Bomb Life”. I as a fellow fashion blogger and stylist purchased Claire’s book and had it signed by her. I look forward to getting more insight and guidance to building to my brand from her journey.
The trunk show and book signing had a great turn out of guest which included celebrities such as Simone’s husband, the G.O.A.T., LL Cool J who was supportive and mixed and mingled with the crowd while promoting his wife’s line. Vivica A. Fox was also in attendance along with Legendary Damon and designer/celebrity stylist Duckie Confetti. We sipped, we saw, we shopped! It was a perfect way to end a beautiful summer night.
